Morinville Legion celebrates a century of service with community open house

Morinville Press — July 28, 2026 · By Shelley Winger
The smell of hamburgers on the barbecue, conversations between old friends and a century-old legacy brought residents through the doors of Morinville Legion Branch 176 on July 17 as the community gathered to celebrate the Royal Canadian Legion's 100th anniversary.
The open house welcomed members, veterans and the public for an evening of food, fellowship and reflection. While the Royal Canadian Legion is celebrating 100 years nationally in 2026, Morinville's Branch 176 has its own history to celebrate — serving the community for 80 years, supporting veterans and their families while becoming a gathering place for remembrance ceremonies, fundraisers and local events.
For many residents, the evening was a chance to spend time with neighbours, reconnect with familiar faces and show support for an organization that has remained an important part of Morinville for generations.
